The Stalker: Ch 11

Ch 11

I just realized that I haven’t updated this fanfic in two months. Even though this fanfic doesn’t seem to get much attention, I still think it’s something I should complete until the end. Anyways, this is actually also the first blog post of the new year...YAY!!! And yet I still write 2010 on my class notes...I guess I haven’t caught up with the time yet. So, without any further delay...enjoy!

Linda was sitting at the restaurant in the Empire Hotel waiting for Ron to arrive...she found it odd that she was waiting for him and not the other way around. But, she looked down at her watch and realized it was only quarter to seven and wondered why she had decided to come so early. Regardless, she sat there looking through the menu and once in a while would look up to see if Ron had arrived.

Only about ten minutes later Ron walked in with a smile on his face as he met her gaze. He couldn’t help but notice the fact that her glass of water was now half empty...which meant that she had obviously been there for a while now. He had never made a woman wait for him before...but then again there’s a first for everything.

Ron: You’re quite early...

Linda: I guess it’s out of habit, but it’s not like you’re on time yourself...

Ron smiled: also out of habit...I usually come five minutes ahead of time, and I would usually be the one waiting for my guest to appear...however, today seems to be the opposite

Linda: Well...

Ron: Though...I don’t mind it at all...

His words seemed to have eased her a bit...for some reason being around him made her feel awfully comfortable and wanting to let her guards down.

Linda: So...what did you want to talk about?

Ron: I wanted to get to know you better...I think that would be the best way to help you...

Linda: That’s not the first time I heard that

Ron chuckled: I don’t have an ulterior motive...I just want...to help you, and understand you

Linda: And why would you want to understand me better? Besides, you’re the professional, you can probably read me like an open book...and I’m just another ‘special’ assignment

Ron: Actually...you’re the first special assignment that I’ve been given...and I don’t want to treat you like an assignment...it wouldn’t make things any easier for me. And, just because I can seem to read you...doesn’t mean I can understand you...everything I see is interpreted in my way...but that doesn’t mean my interpretation is correct and it doesn’t represent who you are. Right now, I can tell that you’re trying to guard yourself from letting others in...but you shouldn’t guard yourself against me.

Linda: I...

Ron: from what Leila told me...you were close to Ms. Yeung...but when you found out about her...you were completely torn...I swear I won’t do that to you...not because it’s a part of my code, but also I’m not the type to take advantage of others...and if you don’t believe me...just ask Leila

Linda: So...what exactly is your relationship with Leila?

Ron: Huh? So, you’re just trying to avoid me asking you questions by asking questions about me now?

Linda smiled: Seems about right

Ron: Ok...well...Leila and I went out a long time ago...when we were still classmates

Linda: Oh...so what happened?

Ron: I got a little carried away with my work and stuff after graduation and we drifted apart. So...now it’s my turn...do you have a boyfriend?

Linda: What? I thought my uncle Bobby made it pretty clear that I don’t...

Ron: Well...he thinks you don’t...but maybe you do and you didn’t tell him about ‘him’

Linda: I don’t...I did...but not now...so, it’s my turn again...do you have a girlfriend?

Ron: I think you know the answer to that already

Linda: I mean...a real one...

Ron: No...or else she would probably go crazy thinking I’m cheating on her or something

Linda: Oh...what’s your plan after this is all over?

Ron: It’s my turn to ask...remember?

Linda: Fine...but let’s order something first...I’m kind of hungry

Ron: Oh, right...I almost forgot I asked you out for dinner, not interrogation

Linda laughed, and it was probably the first time he saw her laugh so whole-heartedly that he couldn’t help but smile. He knew that she’s a much more interesting person than she appears to be...and of course she’s a lot prettier too...especially when she was smiling or laughing just like this. Ron also knew that he wanted to help her be this amazing person again rather than live in the shadow of her late father and isolate herself from everyone around her.

Michelle: Honey, come here quick

Wong Ching got up from the couch, stretched and looked over to the dining table where his wife was sitting, staring at her laptop.

Wong Ching: Updates on the case?

Michelle: Just come here and take a look...

Wong Ching did what he was told and walked over

Michelle: Don’t they make a nice couple?

Wong Ching: You’re not serious...

Michelle stared at her husband: But I am...Cheuk-hei and Ka-Yan...they look really good together don’t they?

Wong Ching grunted: I guess

Michelle smiled: Oh...I really hope they end up together in Dwelling...they’re so adorable...look at all of these pictures...right honey

By the time she turned around to look at her husband, Wong Ching was already back at the couch, with his feet on the coffee table.

Michelle laughed: I know you still like Cheuk-hei with Yeung-yi...

Wong Ching: Of course I do... (he looked away) they’re much more compatible

Michelle walked over and took a seat next to her husband

Michelle: But they’re not as compatible as we are

Wong Ching looked at his wife and smiled: how can they be? We’re...we’re the perfect pair

Michelle smiled: Beauty and the Beast

Wong Ching laughed and put his arm around his wife: Beauty and the Beast
