A Truthful Lie: Ch 24.1

Happy New Year!!! I wish you all the best of luck for this new year, of course good health as well and maybe even fanfic updates once every few weeks. LOL

For me, midterms have begun and like I’ve posted in the cbox I’ve been a bit busy. Actually, for the past week and a bit I’ve been quite sick as well. Luckily there was a snow storm and so I had a snow day to rest up a bit (last week).

I know it’s been a while since the last update...but I do hope you remember what happened in the previous chapter...if not...I’ll help you out a bit

==
Ron was now driving home from Tavia’s place where he had dropped her off. He was obviously not expecting her to invite him upstairs for coffee or anything, but he was still very happy. Dinner had actually gone better than expected. She laughed at his jokes, smiled at him and even spoke to him casually like they used to. Even though it did begin with a bit of overdue emotions and Tavia almost being on the verge of tearing up...they got past that...and it worked out for the best.

Ron was now stopping at a red traffic light and for some unknown reason had called Myolie without even realizing it until he heard her voice on the other line.

~Phone~

Myolie: Hello?

Ron: Myolie?

Myolie: Ron, you do realize that you’re the one who called...right

Ron: Uh, of course...are you busy?

Myolie: Not really, just finishing up some paper work, why do you ask?

Ron: Mind if I drop by?

Myolie: Well...I’ll be finished my shift in an hour...so I guess it’ll be ok

Ron: Great...I’ll probably be there in half an hour...

Myolie: Sure, bye

She didn’t mind having a friend who would tell her almost everything in the world. She didn’t mind keeping him company when he was done either. ‘He’s a great a guy, but...we’re not supposed to be together’...that’s what she would tell herself.

As she continued to finish off her paper work, she would unconsciously turn to look out her window to see if his car had passed. Then she would wonder whether or not she had missed his car, and maybe he was already coming up to meet her. In a way she was excited that he was coming to see her, but she knew he had a story to tell...and usually that story would revolve around Tavia. She knew Tavia, but they were only introduced to one another through Ron...and it became a little awkward when Tavia and Ron had gotten together. Being a third wheel wasn’t what she wanted, so she decided to go ahead and study some more abroad, volunteer...and figure things out. But being abroad made her realize how much she missed her family, and how much she missed him, but as a friend. She missed having someone to pour her heart to...

Moments later she heard a knock on her door and in came Ron with a huge smile plastered on his face.

Myolie: From your expression I can easily figure out what you have...

Ron took a seat: And, what is it that I have Dr. Wu?

Myolie: The love bug

The two of them broke out into laughter...

Ron: You’re good...well...I just spent the evening with Tavia

Myolie: You...what?

Ron: Well...we had dinner

Myolie: For a moment I thought...

Ron: Tsk tsk...is that all that’s on our doctor’s mind?

Myolie smiled: it’s probably all that’s on your mind...Mr. Ng

Ron: Well, Dr. Wu...you might be right...but I’m not admitting to any of this

Myolie: Of course you’re not...anyways...I’m going to assume that you’d like to fill me in on the details of your evening

Ron smiled and moved in a bit closer: Of course...

Myolie: but...later...let me finish this off first

Ron: Ok fine...I’ll be on the couch...like usual

About half an hour or so later, Myolie got up from her seat, stretched and went over to wear Ron was; simply lying on the couch.

He looked up at her, and she nodded...he got up and the two of them left her office.

They headed to the parking lot, towards his car...apparently it was through a mutual understanding that Ron would be giving her a ride home, either her home or his place...somewhere.

Myolie: So, where are we heading to today?

Ron: Your pick...your place or my place, under the stars

Myolie: My place...cause apparently with the stars...you might try to kiss me again

Ron: Technically...I kissed you...not tried...but actually did. Anyways, your place it is

Myolie: So...you can tell me all about your date now

Ron: Well...there wasn’t much...but we did spend time together, we talked about stuff...and I think I’m finally getting through to her...

Myolie: Ron...not that I’m doubting your feelings for her...but...I hope she’s not vanilla ice cream

Ron: what do you mean?

Myolie: Remember...when we were kids...

========================
LOL...ya...I'm gonna hold onto that flashback until the next part of this chapter. I guess it's somewhat of a cliffhanger...

I know this update was short and everything, but it's all about Ronolie here lol...thought not many of you are interested in this pairing...but I find the relationship that they share in my fanfic seems to be pretty amazing. I really do enjoy writing up their scenes...but anyways, there's a lot more interesting stuff to come...RL, TaRo...more Ronolie...it's all in good fun

I hope you thorougly enjoyed the first part to this update, and part 2 will hopefully be up next thursday (just because this one was so short).

So...remember to comment, comment and COMMENT!!!!

See you all very soon,

A Series of Unexpected Events: Chapter 3

A Simple Woman

Character: Tavia Yeung

I’m a daughter, a sister and a wife...but I doubt I will ever have the chance to be a mother, a true woman. Even though years ago I carried the life of what could have been my daughter today, she was never born...instead, she died in my womb. The doctors all told me that her loss was not the only loss my husband and I had to endure...because that loss also meant that we could never have a child together in the future.

I was heartbroken, and I knew my husband felt the same way. After mourning the loss of our child and trying to pacify me he eventually drifted away. They say that a marriage sometimes becomes stronger with the birth of a child, however, the loss of a child to us made us drift apart from one another. We both knew it was an accident that we lost our child...but why, why did he have to drift away from me? Did he feel as though I was in too much pain and would constantly blame myself for her loss, which would remind him constantly that we had lost our child? Or was it the fact that he blamed himself for not looking after me and our child properly? Or could it be that he didn’t know what else to do?

I wanted to ask him all of those questions, but he would never give me the chance to ask him, to talk to him. It’s been seven years, seven years of silence and heart break...what is a woman to do but be vulnerable to almost everything and everyone else.

I’m just a simple woman, a daughter, a sister, a wife, who needs a shoulder to lean on, someone to talk to and listen to me pour my heart out. Before getting married I always hoped that that person would be my husband...but after being married, after losing the only child I could possibly ever have...I realized that that person is not my husband. Funny enough, my husband would rather listen to the stories of an infinite number of strangers before he would listen to me, his own wife.

But, for some reason this world is just too small...and I found someone I could pour my heart to...someone who would listen to me and lend me his shoulder when I need it. He would lend me a helping hand and would tell me stories, tell me things that could make me smile, that could make my tears stop falling. We seem to spend an endless amount of time with one another, and when I’m with him I feel a comfort that the four walls in my home could never offer me...a comfort that my distant husband doesn’t seem to offer. Ironically, he’s my husband’s good friend, Ron.

He seems to see the world with such an optimistic view...even on a rainy day he sees it as Mother Nature trying to cleanse this world and beautify it. Sometimes I would laugh at his extreme optimistic remarks and at other times he would laugh at his own optimistic naivety. But that’s what makes him such a wonderful person...he makes everything seem so right even when it’s not. Being with him feels just right... and I think I’m slowly falling for Ron...my husband’s good friend

~~

After minutes of sobbing onto Ron’s shoulder, Tavia finally had the strength to gradually stop herself and slowly moved away from Ron. The look in his eyes told her that he was very much befuddled but at the same time she saw a very empathetic look...like he understood.

Tavia: I’m so sorry for making your shoulder all soggy now

Ron smiled: You could always get my shirt dry-cleaned for me...or buy me a new one...whichever works better for you

Tavia: Oh

Ron: I’m just joking...I thought you’d laugh...I guess I’m not as good with reading people as I thought I was...

Tavia smiled: I’d still like to get you a new shirt though...

Ron: Then I thank you in advance...you know...I know that you’re going through a really hard time...because it’s almost that time of year and all...but I think you should move on...talk to Raymond...maybe the two of you can adopt...

Tavia: I...I don’t know about that...

Ron: Give it a try...

Tavia: I don’t usually see him around, and when I do...he looks too tired and I feel bad for not being able to help him out...

Ron: I could talk to him for you...but that’s a bit ‘iffy’ to me...

Tavia: He’d listen to you though...you two have known each other for a while

Ron: Maybe I’ll give it a try...we could always double date...like we did when...my wife was still alive

Tavia: Ron...

Ron: I really miss her...but...what can I do, but move on with my life...something you should do...

Tavia: Double date? But who...

Ron: Don’t worry about me, if I can’t find myself a real date...I could always ask Leila to come...

Tavia: Leila...your manager...

Ron: The one and only...

Tavia: Ok...

Ron: So...I’ll set it up then...

Tavia: Sure...but for now...how about we take BiBi and Chuck back to my house so that the maid can watch over them while we go for lunch...and I’ll buy you that shirt

Ron smiled: Sounds good

While waiting for Tavia outside her house Ron received a call from his ‘lovely’ manager

~Phone~

Ron: Hello?

Leila: Are you hiding from me?

Ron chuckled: No...why would I be...

Leila: Let’s see...your deadline is coming up and...I haven’t seen a single thing from you

Ron: That doesn’t mean I’d be hiding from you...

Leila: Then you’re with Tavia...you know, spending too much time with her might give her the wrong sign...

Ron: Oh please...

Leila: Whatever, I booked you a flight and made hotel reservations for us for next week...

Ron: What? Where are we going?

Leila: It’s a secret...I’ll tell you tomorrow...oh, remember to pack tonight

Ron: What?

Leila: We’re leaving tomorrow. Bye

She hung up on him before he could ask her any more questions and when he was about to call her Tavia had come out of her place and she looked a lot better than she was moments ago when her face was red and her eyes were teary.

Ron: So, where to?

Tavia: Up to you...

Ron: How about that little restaurant near the lake...so we could get some fresh air

Tavia: That sounds great...thanks...for everything

I said that I would update, so here it is...I hope you enjoyed reading it...and I hope you look forward to my next chapter of this fanfic...which is quite hilarious. *Spoiler* The next chapter will indeed focus on Leila...and well obviously contain many interesting RL moments

A Series of Unexpected Events: Chapter 1

An Innocent Affair

Character: Raymond Lam

I’ve been doing this for years, and I’ve helped so many individuals feel better about themselves, being a psychiatrist isn’t that stressful of job. It feels great, but sometimes it keeps me away from what matters most in life, love...my family. I never thought things could become like this...I never thought I’d end up doing things that could potentially hurt my family, my wife...

My wife and I, we’ve been married for a little over eight years now...we could’ve had a child who would be turning seven this year...but...she died inside her mother’s womb...my wife’s womb. I don’t blame my wife for the loss of our child, in fact I know that she was in even greater pain than I was when it happened, but there was nothing neither of us could do. We lost our child before she could see the wonders of this world, yes, I could have had a daughter who would be turning seven.

They say having a child brings the two parents together, but facing the loss of a child doesn’t really help in that way. My wife started to drift apart from me, she felt guilty for having lost our child even though it was obviously not her fault. We had gone shopping for baby clothes and as we took the escalator down, there apparently was a robbery. The robber rushed down the escalator along with the security guards and ended up knocking over my beloved wife, thus, causing the loss of our child. The doctor told us that my wife couldn’t bear another child after that incident and well...now I’m just sitting in my office waiting patiently for my next patient to come in instead of calling home and asking when my wife will go and pick up our little sweetheart.

My next patient, she’s special to me not because she’s beautiful but because she’s so innocent. A tragedy had occurred in her life when she was in her twenties causing her now to have the mental capacity of an eight year old while being trapped in the body of a thirty year old woman. She takes life so light-heartedly and is amazed by absolutely everything. Sometimes it feels as though God has brought her to me to fill the void in my heart that was meant for my own daughter, but it’s not the same.

After the accident my patient lost her memory, lost her ability to function at the mental capacity that she should be functioning at and relied solely on her younger brother because a few years prior to her accident the two of them had already lost their parents. His entire world ended up revolving around her and her world was dependent upon him...until she met me. For some reason I offered all the help I could give her, and I ended up giving her all of my time and now...her world...is me.

Macy walked in holding the file of the following patient, a young woman by the name of Charmaine Sheh. Her case was brought to Dr Lam’s attention after the previous doctor who was working on that case until he immigrated to another country. Being the student of that previous doctor, Dr. Lam felt as though he should take the case and has been looking after this young lady for almost a year now.

Macy placed the file upon Dr. Lam’s desk...

Macy: Dr. Lam, should I call the last patient in, or do you want to go out there and call her in yourself?

Raymond: I’ll do it.

He followed his secretary out of his office and into the waiting area where his patient and her younger brother were sitting.

Charmaine had a huge smile on her innocent face as she saw Dr. Lam coming out of his office to greet her.

Charmaine: Dr. Lam!

Raymond walked over: How are you today? Everything’s going well?

Charmaine nodded in excitement: Are we playing games today?

Raymond shook his head: Not today...but we’ll do something even more fun

Charmaine: Yay! Him, did you hear that? Dr. Lam said that today I get to do something even more fun than playing games

Her younger brother nodded

Raymond: Why won’t you leave your sister here with me...and take Macy to dinner or something

Him’s face turned red

Raymond chuckled: I knew that there was something between the two of you a while ago, so you don’t have to be embarrassed. Have fun...and I’ll drive your sister back once we’re done with today’s session

Him: Are you sure? I could come pick her up...and

Raymond shook his head: It’s fine, don’t worry about it (He turned to look at Macy) Don’t stay out too late though, we have a 7:30 appointment tomorrow

Macy: Don’t worry Dr. Lam, I’ll be on time like usual...and I’ll be able to make you a nice cup of coffee before your first patient comes

Raymond smiled: It was definitely a good idea hiring you, well you two have fun.

Raymond walked Charmaine into his office and closed the doors behind him.

Charmaine: So, what games are we going to play today? Are you going to take me to the park and let me go on the swings... (she put a finger on her chin) maybe you’re going to take me to the amusement park because I’m such a good little girl...and then (she gasps in excitement) you’re going to let me eat cotton candy and buy me ice cream!

Raymond laughed at the overly excited Charmaine who was now literally jumping up and down in pure excitement from her vision of the session she was going to have with him.

Raymond: I’m sorry, but not today...I was actually planning on taking you shopping

Charmaine: Shopping? For toys?

Raymond shook his head: Not for toys...

Charmaine pouted and took a seat

Raymond: I was thinking of getting you a beautiful outfit, a nice new dress...maybe a purse...whatever you like

Charmaine thought for a moment: A new dress sounds good...but I still want a new toy...

Raymond: How about...a new dress...and a big teddy bear?

Unexpectedly Charmaine got up from her seat, ran over to Raymond and gave him a big hug. He wasn’t sure how to react to her spontaneous act...but decided to hug her back...and unexpectedly a smile crept upon his face

Finally Charmaine freed herself from the embrace with a slight blush on her face. Raymond assumed that Charmaine was embarrassed by her action, which was completely normal and didn’t depend upon what mental age group she belonged to. To him she was as true and as pure as any other child...with the only difference being the fact that she was radiant and he felt himself being drawn even closer to her as they spend more time together.

A little while after the two of them headed out the office, Raymond closing the doors behind him and locking the place up, while the energy filled Charmaine was already prancing ahead. Raymond caught up to her and led her to his car, and off they went on yet another interesting outing.

He parked his car along the side of the road and the two of them got out. Immediately Charmaine walked over and grabbed onto his hand, like she would do if she was out with her younger brother. She was told by her younger brother that she should hold someone’s hand when she’s out so that she wouldn’t get lost, and it became a habit.

Raymond looked down at his hands, which intertwined with hers...this wasn’t the first time she held his hand, but everytime she did...he felt a little something. Only seconds later did she let go of his hand and ran towards the glass window of a shop and stared intently at a beautiful night gown. Even though she was ‘young’ she still admired the beautiful dresses that women who were her age physically would wear.

Raymond: Do you want to take a look?

Charmaine: My brother says we can’t afford dresses like that...

Raymond: I can, and...I’ll be paying...so, let’s go in

It seemed as though her eyes sparkled as they filled with excitement when Raymond told her that they could go in and take a look...

Raymond walked over to one of the female staff and asked her if she could possibly get Charmaine the dress that was on display in the window. Moments later she came back with the dress in what she assumed to be Charmaine’s size and handed Raymond the dress.

Raymond: Try this on...

Charmaine: Are you sure? (she looked at the price tag) But this costs so much...and my brother says...

Raymond: It doesn’t cost to try something on now, does it?

Charmaine shook her head and followed Raymond’s order to try on the dress. He waited for her patiently while browsing through the other selection of dresses that the store had. When she stepped out of the change room, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her...she was, beautiful

Staff: Sir, your girlfriend looks amazing in the dress...

Raymond: She’s not my...she does look amazing...

Staff: You two look really good together

Raymond smiled and walked towards Charmaine

Charmaine: I look so silly in this dress, don’t I? I think it’s a bit too much for my age...I’m only eight...and you don’t see other eight year olds dress like this, do you?

Raymond: Well, other eight year olds aren’t as special as you, are they?

Charmaine looked in the mirror and saw her reflection standing next to Raymond’s...

Charmaine: You look like a prince today, wearing all white...

Raymond: And you look like a princess in that dress...

Charmaine smiled brightly: We should get married, when I’m older...then I can be your princess, and you can be my prince charming

She started giggling to herself and walked back into the change room to change into her normal outfit

A Series of Unexpected Events: Foreword

Howdy,

This new fanfic will definitely not take more than a year to complete...that I can guarantee. A short fanfic that will indeed be something to think about is what I’m trying to aim for. Please don’t worry about me not being able to finish my other fanfics for they will also be nearing completion by the end of this summer.

They say in life, it’s always the little things that count. It’s not always about what you give but rather how you give it...and sometimes the way you do certain things convey a totally different meaning, different from the one you originally intended to give with. Yes, it’s the little things that count, and it’s the little things that lead to a world of unexpected consequences – good or bad.

Sometimes a good intention leads to something more than one would expect or rather something unexpected. Each word, each phrase used can be taken in and understood differently than what was said. In fact everything is open to interpretation...and we all know interpretation is a dangerous thing.

This fanfic will follow the lives of our many main characters, understanding them, people around them and how these characters view the world as well as themselves. If you’ve ever watched movies like Valentine’s Day or Crash...you would understand how this fanfic will work. My plan is to have every chapter narrated by a different character (or have a monologue) and in that way you will then be able to see things from their eyes and of course feel a deeper connection to the character.

I do hope that EVERYONE will enjoy this rather ‘interesting’ and ‘different’ fanfic. One important thing to note is that this fanfic will only be posted up on my blog and nowhere else. The video below consists of a series of pictures that will allow everyone to see the cast of this fanfic and the music in the background is written by me specifically for it.

Remember to leave me a few comments either on the cbox or HERE!!!! Actually if you leave a comment here...you'll find out when the next update will be ^_^

Enjoy!

You still have THREE unfinished fanfics and you want to start another one? Don't you think you're in WAY OVER your HEAD?" Mysteries of Love (My thoughts, thus far)

Instead of updating one of my fanfics (A Truthful Lie), I decided to write a blog entry about the current series, Mysteries of Love. I've been reading great reviews about the series and even the TV ratings in Hong Kong are relatively high compared to the other series that are currently airing. Because of such incidents I decided to give the series a try, other than the fact that I have been secretly waiting for Raymond to once again appear in a series.

I have also read comments about how this series had plagarized the Japanese series 'Detective Galileo' and I must say those comments are somewhat false. I have watched a few episodes of Detective Galileo before and it was a good watch, however, I never had the chance to finish because I forgot the site and I became too busy with other stuff to find it again. The biggest difference between the two is the fact that Detective focused more on the cases, which of course captured its intended audience's attention. On the other hand Mysteries focused a lot more on the relationship aspects.

For example, I'm only on episode 9 and Tavia has already fallen head over heals for Raymond, and she had fallen in love with him several episodes prior. On the other hand 'Detective' mostly had Galileo and the female officer as a bickering duo...and their relationship is built on their numerous encounters with one another...which seemed to be lacking for Raymond and Tavia. Personally, I don't think admiration for one's talent adds up to falling in love with that person, hence, I find Mysteries a bit too unrealistic in the love department.

Another thing I must say about Mysteries is the fact that Kenneth does not fit the role of a womanizer. Sure, he has that intolerable smirk on his face and a few unbuttoned buttons on his shirt, but that does not equate to a womanizer. He doesn't really seem to fit the role whatsoever and frankly I'd rather see Bosco take on that role, or even better to have Ron take that role. Hmm...actually Kenneth and Raymond should even switch roles...that would be the actual sight to see.

At the moment, I don't find Mysteries to be spectacular at all, or even close to deserving such rave reviews. I'm pretty sure most people who are watching the series are watching it because of the cast which consists of Raymond Lam. Without a doubt if that role was replaced by another TVB actor who have been appearing quite frequently on TV screens (ie Kevin) the reaction would be completely different.

I also think that the lack of focus on the cases make the cases quite simple, rather than complexed like the ones in Detective. I would rather have more complicated and detailed cases rather than simple cases with a love story shoved everywhere. The physics behind some of the early cases that I'm watching currently seems to be quite simple, and being a non-physics expert...I think such incidents in the series could even be explained through common sense. This leads me to wonder about a few things...

1. Why would you ask a physics professor to explain something so simple?
2. Is it cheap to hire a physics professor?
3. Did the police officers lose their common sense?
4. Why do they call Raymond's character Professor King? I thought his last name would be Chinese. And, I thought they would call him Doctor _____ instead
5. Wouldn't it be interesting if Kenneth and Tavia got together instead? lol

I think that's about it for now...I'll obviously continue to watch it because I still have hopes for the latter episodes...and I'll probably write another blog about it once I get a chance to finish it.

Tell me what your thoughts are of MOL at the moment!

oh, and stick around...in a few days I will be updating my fanfics...as well as something special!
