Valentine's Special: Part Two

This was supposed to be up a few days ago...but I was a bit preoccupied...so the post is a bit late. I havent checked whether or not winglin is back up and working yet, but I will be doing that...and I will most likely update A Truthful Lie sometime this week...in the mean time...give this a read...since it's nice and short

=============================

Leila: I guess the guys there aren’t exactly my cup of tea...

Ron: So...what type of guy is your cup of tea?

~ Flashback~

Ron was sitting in the cafeteria going over his notes for his human anatomy exam when all of a sudden a very excited Leila came running towards him.

Leila: Guess what?

Ron: What?

Leila: I got accepted!

Ron: Accepted?

Leila: Remember how I told you I applied for an internship at this large corporation in Australia?

Ron: You got accepted

Leila smiled: Yes I did...

Ron: That’s fantastic...so...when are you supposed to be leaving?

Leila: Well...the offer starts in September

Ron: So...that’s like 4 months from now...wow...congratulations

Leila: Thanks...but...I don’t know whether or not I should go...since...my life’s here (she looked at him)

Ron: Of course you should go...it’s your dream isn’t it? Working in a large international corporation...even if you think your life is here...you should chase after your dreams...things like this don’t always happen...and if you miss the opportunity, you might never get another one, right?

Leila: I guess so...but...

Ron: But what?

Leila: Well...the offer is for 2 years...and then if they hire me permanently, I don’t know when I’ll be back

Ron: Well...whatever your decision is...you know I’ll always support it, and if you choose to go...and once you’re there and feel lonely...I’ll only be a phone call away...

She smiled and gave him a hug...he was right...he was always there...

~end of flashback~

Leila thought of the first few months that she was there...without knowing anyone...and how lonely she felt...knowing that Ron was there made all the difference. However, after a year had gone by...she seemed to have gotten used to the lifestyle...and the two of them eventually drifted apart.

Ron: So?

Leila: I’m not sure...this might sound a bit silly...but...I used to think a guy like you would be my cup of tea

Ron looked at her: Me?

Leila: Ya...dependable, always there, caring...easy on the eyes

Ron: Well...my girlfriend broke up with me because I was never around...

Leila: Well...maybe, she’s not the one for you then...you are a doctor and sometimes...your patients do come first...

Ron: I thought she understood...

Leila: I’m sorry for bringing it up...why won’t we talk about something else then

Ron: Like what?

Leila: Anything

Ron: ok...well yesterday I helped deliver this baby boy and it was such a miraculous event...I guess that’s why they call it the miracle of life...and then I saw how happy my patient and her husband was and it was great...it really helped me take my mind off of a lot of things

Leila: I guess your job really does give you this sense of satisfaction that you always wanted

Ron: Ya, I guess...well...here’s your stop

Leila: Wow...we’re here already...I guess traffic wasn’t that bad

Ron: Ya...I’ll go grab your bags from the trunk

Leila: Wait

Ron: What is it?

Leila: I still have lots to tell you...and I have a feeling if I don’t tell you now...I wouldn’t know when I have the chance to...

Ron: Ok...what's wrong?

Leila: Nothing...It’s just...ever since I’ve been away...it feels as though the friendship that we used to have suddenly faded and...I really missed it...I really missed having someone to talk to about anything and everything...

Ron: Leila...I’m always here...I’m just a phone call away...or a text message away...

Leila: When I was boarding the plane coming back home...you were among the very few people I wanted to really see...and having you come to the airport and picking me up really made my day

Ron smiled: That’s what friends are for

Leila: Ron...

Ron: Ya?

Leila: Five years ago...when I got my acceptance...and I asked you whether or not you thought I should go...if you had asked me to stay...I would’ve stayed...

Ron: Leila...

Leila: I know...that sounded really stupid...but...I was in love with you and you were totally oblivious...you always treated me so nicely...always there...being such a great friend...when...

Ron: I think you’re really tired and your parents are waiting anxiously for you to get home...how about we talk about this another time...how about tomorrow...

Leila: Tomorrow?

Ron: Ya...tomorrow

Leila: Tomorrow’s...

Ron: Valentine’s Day...the two of us...catching up on the years that we missed out of each other’s lives...but as friends...

Leila: Friends...

Ron: So...let me get your bags and walk you to your door...

Leila: Wait...

Ron: what is it now?

Leila: Ron Ng...will you be my valentine?

Ron smiled: I’d love to

The finale will be up...soonish...so...stay tuned !

Valentine's Special: Part ONE

wow...I know...I haven't updated in forever...I'm sorry...really, I mean it. Actually I feel as though 2010 started off with a rather rough start for me, both my grades and the way I've been handling things show that. I do hope that this new lunar year will be different and I'll be on top of things. Anyways, Happy Lunar New Year! and...as many you have waited for: a short RL fanfic for this 'romantic' time of year. It will most likely be broken down into 3 parts...and so here is part one!

=======================================

The aroma of all the food being cooked in the kitchen filled the house as the TV was turned on to its maximum volume. All of a sudden the phone rang and Mary immediately went to pick it up.

Mary: Hello?

Man: Oh, Mary thank god you’re home

Mary: Something wrong Damian?

Damian: Well...Leila’s coming home today to celebrate Lunar New Year with us...but our car broke down and I was wondering if you could go pick her up for us...since she’s going to land in like 45 minutes

Mary: Oh...don’t worry, I’ll ask Shek Sau to go...why won’t you talk to him

Mary yelled out into the kitchen: Honey! Damian’s on the phone...he needs you to go and pick up Leila for him since his car broke down

Shek Sau: But I’m still decorating the house...why won’t you get our son to do it...he’s just moping around the house anyways

Mary: He’s home?

Shek Sau: Yup...anyways, just ask Damian the details and we’ll send him to pick her up...they know each other, it won’t be that difficult

Mary: Alright

~back on the phone~

Mary: Hello? Damian? Are you still there?

Damian: Yup...so...should I tell you the details?

Mary: Go ahead...

Damian: Flight number, 303, terminal 2...arriving from Australia

Mary: Got it

Damian: Thanks

~end~

Mary then went upstairs to her son’s room and knocked on his door

Mary: Ron? Are you in there?

Ron: Do you need me to go out and get you anything?

Mary slowly opened the door and walked in seeing her son just lying in bed, staring at the ceiling...

Mary: What’s wrong?

Ron: Nothing...

Mary: Shouldn’t you be out planning your Valentine’s Day to surprise Linda?

Ron: That actually won’t happen...

Mary: How come? Is she busy spending time with family?

Ron: we broke up

Mary: Broke up? What happened?

Ron: I don’t really want to talk about it now...anyways...did you need me for something

Mary: Oh...I almost forgot. Leila’s coming back today, actually in around 45 minutes and her dad can’t pick her up because his car broke down...so he asked me to pick her up...but you know how I’m a bit busy preparing for tonight’s dinner and...I was wondering if you could go pick her up

Ron: Sure...there’s no use for me moping around the house anyways...and I haven’t seen her in a while...I wonder if she grew

Mary laughed and knocked her son’s head: I guess if you can still joke around then it’s nothing too serious...well...here’s the information about her flight number and everything

Ron: Don’t worry about me...worry about what’s on the stove...I think I smell something burning

Mary immediately walked out of his room and down the stairs back to her delicacy that was starting to get a bit darker than she had wanted

Ron came downstairs, dressed and was ready to go as he poked his head into the kitchen

Ron: Mom...so I’m just going straight to the airport to pick her up, right?

Mary nodded: Yes...now hurry...she’s supposed to land soon...and you know the traffic

Ron: Ok...bye

Driving to the airport felt like the longest drive he ever took...it was funny how the only thing on his mind was why his girlfriend had broken up with him. He knew she was right about him not spending enough time with her, making her spend so much of her time with someone else...it was him who had pushed her away and into the arms of another man. But...there was no use trying to make amends to a relationship that had lost all hopes...he knew that not only was she disappointed in him...but...her heart was no longer his either...

By the time he had arrived at the airport the plane had already landed and one by one people were coming out and being greeted by their family. He stood there waiting for her...trying to get her image into his head...but it was hard since it had been at least 3 years since he saw her...

Leila had gotten all her bags and was now pushing her cart out...not only was she just coming back to celebrate Lunar New Year with her family, but she was staying for good. Apparently, the company that she was working for had opened up a new branch and it was here...in her hometown...

Leila looked around, and she couldn’t seem to see her mom or dad anywhere...it was odd because they would usually come real early to pick her up...but this time they were nowhere in sight. Suddenly she saw a familiar figure walk towards her, hands in his pocket with that silly smile on his face...

Ron: Leila?

Leila: Ron? Why are you here?

Ron: Your dad’s car broke down...and so I was sent to pick you up

Leila: Oh...

Ron: You sure have a lot of stuff for a short visit...

Leila: Well...

Ron: Ya?

Leila: Never mind...just roll the cart and take me to your car...I’m exhausted

Ron chuckled: demanding as always...and you haven’t grown at all

Leila looked at him: Very funny

Leila could easily tell from the way he looked that he wasn’t in a very good mood...but felt as though it just wasn’t the right time to ask. However, once they got on the car...she couldn’t contain herself any longer.

Ron: I can’t believe there’s so much traffic

Leila: Well...everyone is rushing home to have dinner with their families...since it IS New Year’s Eve

Ron: I guess...

Leila: So...am I taking away some of your time that you could be using to spend with your girlfriend?

Ron looked at her: What are you talking about?

Leila: You don’t look so happy...

Ron: It’s nothing...

Leila: So, your girlfriend is fine with you coming to the airport and picking me up?

Ron: There’s no girlfriend...

Leila: What? That’s impossible...the ever so popular Ron Ng...not having a girlfriend?

Ron: well...she broke up with me a few days ago...

Leila: Oh...I didn’t mean to...

Ron: It’s ok...I don’t mind...so...where’s your boyfriend? Isn’t he upset that you won’t be spending Valentine’s Day with him?

Leila looked at him: There’s no boyfriend

Ron: And how could that be?

Leila: I guess the guys there aren’t exactly my cup of tea...

Ron: So...what type of guy is your cup of tea?

==========================================
