The End is Near: Ch 6

Happy New Year!!! 2013 is going to be a blast!!! Hopefully everything will work out and I wish every single one of you a blessed year with good health, great fortune and an amazing journey to come. Now on with the fanfic!

===============
Ch 6

~In the elevator~

Bosco: That was the doctor, wasn’t it?

Ron: That’s the doctor

Bosco: She’s pretty

Ron: Don’t let Myolie hear that...she might eat you alive

Bosco laughed: Oh no, we have the right to check out other people...so it’s all good

Ron: Uh huh...

Bosco: So, what’s your next move?

Ron: What?

Bosco: Oh come on...she’s probably as interested in you as you are interested in her...mutual attraction...

Ron: Sounds like the name of a movie

Bosco: No...’Fatal  Attraction’ is the name of a movie...some director you are

Ron: Just because I’m part of pop culture shouldn’t mean I need to know about pop culture

Bosco: And this is why you’re not a script writer...so...you’re next move?

Ron: I’ll bring her back a souvenir...

Bosco: For your mom?

Ron: No! For Linda...and for my mom

Bosco laughed: I hope you’re not getting the both of them the same thing

~Doctor’s office~

Mary: So, Dr. Chung how did you and my son meet?

Linda: It was a coincident, he dropped his wallet and I picked it up

Mary: Are the two of you close?

Linda: We just met a while ago...

Mary: Are you by any chance dating my son? It counts even if you’re casually dating and you don’t consider yourself his girlfriend

Linda: I think you might’ve gotten the wrong idea...we’re just friends, really...

Mary: Oh, I’m sorry for probing...it’s becoming a habit of mine to probe when my son introduces me to a female colleague or friend...it’s just I’m getting old and I’d like to see my son get married and start a family...

Linda: It’s ok...my parents ask similar questions when I introduce them to a male colleague or friend

Mary: But I bet your parents aren’t worried about you finding a date or anything...I bet you have so many pursuers since you’re a doctor, well mannered and pretty too...

Linda: I’m flattered but, I don’t exactly have any pursuers at the moment

Mary: Or you’re just too busy to notice them?

Linda: Um...maybe...anyways, I’ll have Elaine check you in and lead you to the procedure room

Mary: Thank you Dr. Chung

~5 days later Taiwan~

Bosco: Finally! We’re done! Now I can enjoy the scenery and spend some alone time with Myolie

Ron laughed: You literally see her day and night and you still want to spend more time with her, the only explanation for that is love

Bosco smiled: Yup...cause honestly I can’t think of anything else either. Oh, and you...you better buy that doctor friend of yours something since your mom obviously interrogated her

Ron: I know, I know...I kind of wanted Myolie to help me out...but since you want to spend time with her...

Bosco heaved a sigh: Fine, before you blame me for not helping out a pal...you can tag along with us while we go shopping...

Ron: Thanks man, I owe you one

Myolie: Why are you two standing here when everyone is getting ready to leave?

Bosco: We’re just talking...Ron needs your help with buying his girlfriend a present

Myolie: What? Girlfriend? Ron Ng! How can you keep something like that from your best friend?

Ron: Um...I don’t have a girlfriend? She’s just a friend who also happens to be my mom’s current cardiologist

Myolie: Is she pretty?

Bosco: Yup

Myolie: You knew about her and didn’t tell me? What else are the two of you keeping from me?

Bosco: That’s about it...I swear

Ron: Ya...so...I need your help...you know how my mom is with the women I introduce to her...so...what should I get her?

Myolie: Well...there is one thing I can think of...

Ron: Really?

Myolie: It’s this really cute charm bracelet that comes in a limited number, last I checked a few Taiwan stores still have them in stock

Ron: You think she’ll like it

Myolie: How would I know? But it is pretty and cute, and if you get her white, it works with almost everything...so it’s probably your best bet. Here take a look at it (she shows him a picture of it on her phone)

Ron: Did you want one too?

Myolie: I was thinking about...but I’m still contemplating

Ron: I could get you one since I’ll be heading there anyways...

Myolie: Really?

Bosco looked at him: Really?

Ron: Ya? Why not?

Myolie gave Ron a hug: You’re the best friend ever!

Ron smiled: You’re welcome. So, I guess you two can spend the day alone together after all

~ A few days later~

Ron finally flew back from Taiwan and had a few days off before he had to go into the studio for some editing work. He decided to give Linda a call so that he could give her the present he bought.

~on the phone~

Ron: Hello?

Linda: Hi, and who may this be?

Ron: I’m Ron...Ng, we met a week ago

Linda: Oh, hi...I wasn’t really expecting you to call

Ron: How come?

Linda: I thought you were just saying that to be nice

Ron laughed: Oh...well, I could hang up and you can pretend this call never came through

Linda laughed: It’s ok...so what can I do for you? Did your mom want to speak to me?

Ron: Well...as an apology for leaving you unattended with my mom, I bought you a gift and was wondering when you would be free so I could actually give it to you

Linda: A gift? You really don’t have to, your mom is a lovely person

Ron: But she did ask you a lot of questions, didn’t she?

Linda: It’s fine, a lot of my elderly patients ask me questions along those lines all the time

Ron: Well, when are you free...and if you’re not, I could always drop by and drop off the gift

Linda: I’m free today, at noon...but I bet you have lots of work to do, so...

Ron: Noon sounds good, I’ll meet you at the cafe across from the hospital then

Linda: Oh, ok, see you then, bye

Ron: bye

=======================

Ron: So, let’s get back to my story...how you interrupted me while I was in the middle of a conversation with this amazing woman

Bosco looked at him: How amazing?

Ron: Miss Chinese International amazing

Bosco: Really?

Ron: If I was looking for a pretty woman to be in a new music video, I’d totally pick her

Bosco: So...there’s some attraction going on...interesting

Ron: How is that interesting?

Bosco: Well...if it’s true that her business card is real...then I must say, it’s your lucky day

Ron: How so?

Bosco: She works in the same hospital as the one your mom goes to for her monthly heart check-ups

Ron: Maybe she’s the one

Bosco laughed: Yes, because we’re in some funny romantic comedy and fate seems to be pulling the strings of your love life

Ron: Maybe fate is at work...cause you know, next week my mom has her check up...so I’ll be taking her

Bosco: But next week we’re flying over to Taiwan to film a few scenes, remember?

Ron: I know, I told Myolie to book me a later flight so I could take my mom to the hospital first

Bosco: Speaking of Myolie, I should get going

Ron chuckled: You’re totally whipped

Bosco: Not whipped, just in love and a good boyfriend

Ron: Right...

~ Chung House~

Linda finally drove home after a somewhat long day at work and an interesting conversation at the bar.

Queenie: You’re home early

Linda: Ya...Elaine cancelled on me...so I only had a drink and then went home

Queenie: So you were there alone...did someone try to hit on you?

Linda laughed: Really?

Queenie: Pretty girl, alone at the bar...you know...things like that happen...

Linda took a seat next to her sister

Linda: Well...

Queenie: Well?

Linda: A guy thought I was hitting on him...

Queenie raised her eyebrows: And were you?

Linda: No, he dropped his wallet and I picked it up...so he bought me a drink

Queenie: Hmm...that’s a pretty smart move. So...what’s his name, are you going out again?

Linda: Here, take a look (she handed her the business card)

Queenie: Hmm...a director...Ron Ng...do you think he’s legit?

Linda: How would I know?

Queenie: We could google him, or facebook stalk him...was he cute?

Linda: I guess...maybe...

Queenie looked at her younger sister: And?

Linda: He was really cute

Queenie laughed: So...are you going to call him?

Linda: What if this is some scheme and he’s not a legit director?

Queenie: Alright...fine, let’s leave it up to fate then...if you’re destined to meet again, you will

Linda: Exactly

Queenie sighed: And this exactly why I don’t want to have a daughter

Linda nudged her sister

~ one week later~

~ Hospital~

Elaine: Hey, your schedule is packed today

Linda: I know...Dr. Chun transferred me his patients before leaving

Elaine: Wait...is he coming back?

Linda: He said he’ll be back in three months

Elaine: So...for the next three months you’ll be pretty busy

Linda: I know...

Elaine: So...you have about fifteen minutes before your first patient...Mary Hon

Linda: Alright, I’ll take a little walk then

~ Elevator~

Ron: I’m really sorry mom, I thought I could actually drop you off, and then pick you up, but Myolie couldn’t get me tickets for a later flight than this so...

Mary: Don’t worry, I’ll be fine...

They arrived at the 6th floor, Cardiology. As the elevator opened the two of them stepped out and he saw her.

Ron: Hey

She turned around and was astonished to see him

Linda: Hi

Ron: I didn’t think that you’d be here...well...not today

Linda: Ya...I hold my clinics here...

Mary cleared her throat

Ron: Right, mom, this is a friend of mine...Linda, and Linda...this is my mom...Mary

Linda: Pardon me, but you wouldn’t happen to be Mary Hon?

Mary: Yes I am...how did you know?

Linda smiled: You’re my first patient of the day

Mary: Oh...so you’re Dr. Chun’s replacement...

Linda: Ya...

Mary: Are you my son’s girlfriend?

Linda blushed: No...We’re just friends

Ron: Mom...

Mary: Hey, I have every right to ask...

Ron mouthed the words ‘I’m sorry’ to Linda

At that moment, the elevator doors opened and out came Bosco

Bosco: Dude, you’re going to be late, and Myolie’s going to have a panic attack if you’re late...so I will be the one who has to bear with everything

Ron: Right...so...Linda, or should I call you Dr. Chung

Linda: Linda is fine

Ron: Ok...so, if you don’t mind, can you take my mom into the clinic and check her in. I know, it’s not your job or anything and...

Linda: It’s fine...I’ll take good care of her

Ron smiled: Thank you, I owe you one. And, mom...don’t probe, don’t ask irrelevant questions...and get home safely

Mary laughed: Oh, I have such a wonderful son...now go away...

Bosco: We really should get going

Ron: Fine, bye...and Linda, I’ll give you a call when I get back...ok?

Linda smiled: that sounds good, bye

Bosco: Bye Mrs. Ng...have fun at the doctors (he winked at her)

Mary: Of course (she winked at him)

The End is Near: Ch 4

Howdy folks, I just felt like updating this fanfic for some reason...so ya, enjoy!!!

*Edit* GAH! I hate the new blogger...it really messed up my format...sorry for it looking so ugly...it's fixed now.
===============================

~ Coburg Bar~

Ron: Can I get a whisky on the rocks

Bartender: You got it

Moments later Ron was on his second drink of the night, when he heard the sound a woman’s voice

Lady: Excuse me sir

Ron: I’m not interested, sorry

Lady: Well, you dropped your wallet

Ron: My wallet? (He started feeling his pocket and realized it was empty)

Lady: Here (she handed him his wallet)

Ron: Must’ve fallen out when I tried to search for my phone or something. Thanks

Lady: Not a problem

Ron: How about I buy you a drink then, as an apology and thanking you for picking up my wallet

Lady: Sure. I’d like a Pina Colada

Bartender: Here you go

Lady: Thanks

Ron: So...are you waiting for friends

Lady: I was...but she called and cancelled on me, so I thought I’d have a drink anyways before heading home...

Ron: Oh

Lady: You?

Ron: I’m just having a drink, but...I’m also trying to avoid heading home...my mom’s on the ‘the world is going to end, and I have no grandchildren, or daughter-in-law’ rampage

She laughed: Oh, well, at least your parents don’t tell you ‘this is what happens when you let girls go to school, now that they’re successful, men are intimidated, so she’ll live with us for the rest of her life’

Ron laughed: I guess your story makes mine sound a bit less horrifying

Lady: Yup...I remember once my dad even told me how men were afraid I’d castrate them

Ron: What? No way...

Lady: I know, right...

Ron: I’m Ron by the way and you are...if you don’t mind telling me of course

Lady: Linda

At that moment is phone rang

Ron: Sorry, I really have to take this call

Linda: No problem

Moments later he came back

Ron: Hey, I’m really glad we bumped into each other but I have to get going...something happened at work and it seems as though they can’t resolve it without me...so...

Linda: Oh, that’s fine...I’m just about to leave as well...but probably after I finish my drink

Ron smiled: Well...here’s my card (hands her his business card), hopefully we get to meet again and compare notes on our parents

Linda smiled: That sounds good and here’s mine (hands him her business card)

Ron: Great, bye

Linda: Bye

After he left, she finally had the chance to take a look at his business card

Linda: A director? He must really think I’m some naive movie star wannabe...typical

~ Studio Main Entrance~

Bosco: Thank goodness you’re back

Ron: What’s going on? Were you actually waiting for me?

Bosco: No...I just had nothing better to do than stand around at the main entrance

Ron: So, what happened?

Bosco: Remember how the producer had to use two main female leads instead of one...

Ron: Ya, and?

Bosco: Well...the other one came in and saw us editing the footages...she asked to see what we had so far...and well...she was unhappy that she had less screen time

Ron: So?

Bosco: Ron, do you know who she is?

Ron: An actress

Bosco: She’s one of the company’s shareholder’s daughters

Ron: I know, I told you that... and?

Bosco: Fine, since you obviously think this is some trivial issue, how about you go and resolve it then

Ron: Isn’t that why you called in the first place?

Bosco: Seriously, with this attitude your mom has every right to worry

Ron looked at him: Ok...well...it’s really your fault my mom has to worry

Bosco: What now?

Ron: Before you gave me that panic call, I was having one of the most interesting conversations with this lovely lady...

Bosco: Really?

Ron: Ya, she even gave me her business card before I left, take a look (hands him the card)

Bosco: Cardiologist? Really? Or is this your mom’s doctor?

Ron: Fine, don’t believe me...I’ll go on in...and resolve this first...then we’ll talk about the loss you made me endure

Bosco chuckled: Well...you could always give her a call...unless...this is the type of woman who is playing hard to get by handing out a business card that has the word cardiologist on it implying she can easily play with your heart

Ron: That’s my thought exactly. And now if you excuse me, I have an actress I need to take care of

Bosco: Yes, charm her into submission

~Ron’s office~

Ron: So, how can I help you?

Sire: Well...I came back because I was curious as to how everything gets edited and put together...so I asked them to show me what they have so far...and then I realized that half of my scenes were cut

Ron: I think you might be exaggerating a little bit...

Sire: Well...we’ve been filming a good 12-14 hours a day for the past month...I didn’t expect there to be that much of me but still as the co-star...I expected at least half of the screen time...

Ron: You have to look at it this way...some of your scenes were cut because they weren’t perfected enough yet...we’ll probably have to go back and re-film to make sure everything is actually together and works out smoothly...so you shouldn’t worry about your screen time (He puts a hand on her shoulder) As long as you’re really working hard, even if you don’t have half the screen time, the audience can still appreciate you as a good actress...

Sire: You really think so?

Ron smiled: Of course...that’s why a lot of supporting roles get a lot more noise than the leads...think of Laughing Sir

Sire: I guess it’s true...so there might be a chance that we will be re-filming a few scenes then

Ron nodded: Of course...plus I’ll be the one making the final judgement over the editing...so...we’ll see

Sire: Thanks! (She stood up and gave him a hug)

Ron smiled: Not a problem...just work hard ok?

Sire smiled: I will, thanks Ron...you don’t mind if I call you by your first name, right?

Ron: Just, avoid that when we film...ok?

Sire: Sure

Moments later he left his office and was greeted by Bosco

Bosco: She looks a lot happier now...what did you do?

Ron: I spoke to her...and told her that she shouldn’t worry...as long as she works hard, even if her screen time is reduced the audience will still appreciate her

Bosco: Anything else?

Ron: What are you implying?

Bosco: I don’t know...young actress, whose father is extremely wealthy, and a young handsome director, in the same room...

Ron smiled: Well...I did get a hug...

Bosco smirked: Is that all?

Ron: What do you think happened?

Bosco: I don’t know, she seems like she’s into you...so...I only presumed that she started up this tantrum to get some attention from our handsome director here

Ron: Is that it? Wow...maybe I should be careful...don’t want any rumours to start...

Bosco: Uh huh...speaking of rumours, did you hear what’s going on with Ka-wing

Ron: Ya...something about being aloof and self-centred...but that doesn’t sound like the Kevin we know

Bosco: You know how he is...he doesn’t go around trying to please everyone...poor guy is always misunderstood

Ron: Funny how they’re only talking about his ‘personality’ now when he’s all famous and stuff...and that’s why I don’t film series or movies that involves these old shifus and masters

Bosco laughed: That’s why you film series and dramas with pretty female leads who love being in your company

Ron smiled: I like working with people I like...that’s why I’m always working with you and Myolie

Bosco: Maybe it’s because we’re the only two assistant director and production manager that can stand your personality

=====================================

Yay!!! They finally met...I hope that their meeting was interesting rather than just something you've seen before...I don't know. And the ending, I just thought I should kinda express how I felt about the whole Kevin Cheng incident thing...I was actually going to post a rant...but thought, it's probably not a great idea. However, I do have to say this

I really don’t like these martial artists who think just because they have seniority and such that they expect everyone to listen to them. If that is the case there will never be any progress. People have to ask questions, people have to have their own opinions. Yes, you should respect your elders and those around you, but what I’ve learned is that respect should be mutual. If they do not respect you, they do not respect your individuality then they do not deserve your respect. Now, this may sound really harsh, but that’s what I believe in. Respect is gained, it is not a given, sometimes people need a bit of reminding...so good on Kevin.

Ya...that's about it...so remember to comment and I'll be back soon...thanks for the reminder about my other fanfics...I will get to them since I'm off now (though I'm in the middle of graduate applications).

Remember to comment,

Randomness...OUT!!!
