A Truthful Lie: Ch 25

Ch 25: FEELINGS

Howdy folks, it’s been a while hasn’t it? How have you been doing? Are your exams done? Cause...I’m DONE!!! Ahahaha...exams are over...Randomness is BACK!!!

I wrote my last exam at the end of April...and well...my hand was pretty sore lol I’m officially done my third year and it feels pretty awesome...I think as a person I’ve grown a bit more...actually I think I finally had the epiphany that was supposed to hit in first year...the one where you realize that you’re an adult and your future is in your hands...so either you’re gonna make it or break it...and I hope I really MAKE IT! Anyways, I don’t think you want me to ramble on about my epiphany or anything but rather read this story...so...here it is.

Enjoy!

By the time they got to Myolie’s place, Ron had already filled her in on everything that went on between Tavia and himself.

Myolie: I guess you won’t be coming up then?

Ron: I guess not...unless you want me to

Myolie: No, it’s ok...I’ll have plenty of other times to tell you about stuff...you should go home and rest up...

Ron smiled: OK, I’ll take your word for it...

He stepped out of his car, and went over to open the door for Myolie. It was in his nature to be a gentleman

Myolie: Thanks...

Ron: When did we become so formal?

He gave her a light peck on the cheek as a goodnight kiss, waved, and got back on his car and drove off...It was a strange feeling, but after telling Myolie about his day, he felt even happier. God knows why this is the case, but all he knew was that knowing that he will always have someone to listen to his stories seem to make him happy.

When Monday came around Ron was equally nervous as he was excited about heading back to work. Tavia would be there. Would she smile at him? Would she speak to him in the same tone she spoke to him on their last date? All of these questions seem to flutter throughout Ron’s mind as he struggled to put on his tie, which usually wouldn’t cause him so much trouble. He felt like a little boy again, heading to a large candy shop, excited about all the flavours that were there, but at the same time a little bit nervous and anxious.

When we arrived at work, the first person he saw was...Leila. She was all smiles as well, which somehow made Ron realize how wonderful she was.

Ron: Good morning

Leila: Morning to you too Mr. Ng

Ron: Aren’t you going to ask me about how my date went?

Leila: Do you really think I care that much to ask?

Ron smiled: A quick tongue. I’ve taught you well...

Leila: Again with the oh so large ego, but...if it makes you happy, then I’ll ask. How was your date?

Ron: Wonderful.

Leila: That’s it...just one word?

Ron: What else do you want me to say? It was a good start, even though we’re still just friends at the moment

For some reason those words made it seem as though a load was lifted off her chest. She was happy that he was happy, but she was happier that Ron and Tavia are merely starting over from scratch rather than starting to date again

Ron: I think I’ll ask her to dinner again...but I’ll give her some time to take in everything first. I think being friends at the moment is a good step, don’t you agree

Leila: Seems a bit unlike the Ron Ng I originally met...but...I think the change is good

Ron: What’s that supposed to mean?

Leila: I don’t mean to offend, but when we first met, you were very much full of yourself, which you still are, don’t get me wrong. But you were also over ambitious and even a bit inconsiderate...but now...you’re not so much of a jerk

Ron: Being honest isn’t part of our job description. You’re lucky I’m in a good mood; otherwise, bashing your superior like that might cost you a lot more

But then he smiled. His smile was so contagious that it made Leila smile as well. She knew he was joking and at that moment she also realized, she had special feelings for him. This wasn’t good.

Ron: But does that also mean that you’re beginning to like me?

Leila: I...

Ron smiled: No need to answer, as an experienced lawyer I can tell by such hesitation that your answer is either brutal to me, or...the answer is yes, you are beginning to like me, which is probably more embarrassing than you can probably answer. So, just save it. I’m pretty sure; your ‘truthful’ answer would’ve created the latter

Leila: Well...in that case, since Mr. Ng here is such an experienced lawyer he would also have realized that he has a meeting to attend to in a few hours

Ron: I do? With whom?

Leila: Your favourite business partner thus far...

Ron: Really now, why didn’t you tell me about it earlier? I would’ve dressed for the occasion

Leila raised her eyebrow: And to think I thought you were a slightly changed man, considering how you’re trying to win Ms. Yeung back

Ron: Ah, but does a peacock lose its feathers when it’s trying to attract its mate?

Leila smiled: Comparing yourself to an animal, and one that is NOT warm-blooded. You never seem to disappoint

Ron: ah, so my mentee here does have a wide range of knowledge, one point to you, but minus one for the quick tongue towards your superior

Leila: So, are you trying to say that I must always be at the mercy of my superior and never stand up for what I believe to be true?

Ron: With experience you’ll learn when to be quick and when to simply not speak...but, with me, I don’t mind this quick exchange, though...you should be more careful in the future, just a friendly word of advice

Leila: So now you’re looking out for me? It seems to me like your impression of me has changed as well

Ron: Like I said before, you’ve helped me see that there’s more to life then quick flings and infatuations...I guess in a way that makes you a very special lady to Ron Ng.

Leila slightly blushed at his words, and Ron immediately noticed her cheeks starting to turn pink. He looked at her carefully, smiled, and made a small gesture. He felt her pink cheeks, and his smile broadened

Ron: I think my assumption that you’re beginning to like me, is actually fact. Now I’m just curious if for some very strange reason, you’ve fallen for me

Leila: In your dreams

Ron: Well, if it makes you feel any better...I enjoyed playing the role of your husband, even if it was just for a very short day.

Leila: You were, a good father that day...and since I was never married, I wouldn’t know whether or not you were a good husband...but like I said, I think one day you will be

Ron: Thanks

Then, once again he embraced her. For some reason he felt it was the right thing to do, a simple embrace. He wanted just to have her in his arms for a moment. Maybe it was to remind himself of that day they spent together as a ‘family’ or maybe because he needed one. Regardless, Leila only became pinker at his touch, while her heart beat sped up.

Ron could feel her heart beating against his body, he could feel that rush of blood to her face that was causing her to blush and he loved it. He loved that feeling he was able to give her, that sense of anxiousness tied in with a bit of embarrassment. It was cute.

When he was with Tavia, he felt as though nothing he could do would surprise her, would make her feel like a young girl again being with her lover. It almost felt as though they were old friends reliving their memories together...and through the embrace he had with Leila he started to question whether or not trying to revive what he had with Tavia long ago, was indeed a good idea.

Finally, he released Leila from the embrace

Ron: Alright, let’s get ready for the meeting. Maybe you can get a bouquet of flowers for Ms. Chung?

Leila: I wouldn’t do that if I were you

Ron: Because?

Leila: Her fiancé, who is also heir to their company is accompanying her for this meeting, since he’s in town and has heard of you

Ron laughed: Am I really some sort of ‘lady butcher?’ Just because I’m good looking and the tabloids seem to always catch me with someone, it really doesn’t mean anything...unless I admitted to them

Leila: Right...so you’re trying to say that he didn’t have to come

Ron: Ya...Ms. Chung and I get along really well...

Leila: are you referring to your relationship in the conference room or in bed?

Ron shot her a look: Really? Isn’t the answer obvious?

Leila simply stared at him

Ron looked at her with a menacing smile and mouthed the word ‘both’

===================
I know it took me a while to write this chapter, but I'd like to let you in on a secret...I actually started writing the ending to this fanfic. *gasps* Ya, I know it sounds crazy since I've been dragging this on for a while, but, it's coming to an end. Whether or not you're going to like the ending, is a completely other story.

What I have now for the ending is I guess, really open...I know not a lot of people fancy that type of ending...but...it might work for this fanfic

Anyways, enough of my rambling. Please leave me a comment/comments, I'll try to update more frequently since I'm off and...be on a lookout for an update to The Stalker (maybe, cause I wanna poke fun at more 'issues' lol)

that's it!

Randomness...OUT!!!

hi, thanks for your update. I love the conversation between Ron and Leila and kind of happy that he may have a second thought about him and Tavia (you know i love RL :D). Because with Leila he can be himself and happy. Can't wait to read the ending, but it kind of sad that it is coming to an end.

ps. Congratulation to you and enjoy yourself after al the exams.

Same here, I actually think that an open ending suits the most to this story, as it still have many unanswered questions that is still wandering around my head.
Anyway, hope that you will update soon.

Enjoy yourself after your exams, sadly I won't have mine until early November
