The Stalker: Ch 12: Just Talk

Ch 12

It’s been an awfully long time since I last updated this fanfic, and it’s actually supposed to be one of my personal favourites...but I guess lately I haven’t been as motivated to update and my interest in TVB has also decreased. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this rather dialogue-full chapter.

~Empire Hotel Restaurant~

The two of them sat there, after finishing their dinner were waiting for their desserts to arrive.

Ron: So, it’s still my turn, isn’t it

Linda: I guess so...

Ron: What are your plans after all of this?

Linda: What? Isn’t that what I asked you?

Ron: You...did, but it wasn’t your turn...so...what are your plans?

Linda: I guess...it would depend on what happens next

Ron: What happens next?

Linda smiled: Oh, but it’s my turn to ask now

Ron chuckled: That was quite the smart move Ms. Chung

Linda: Why thank you...anyways, what are YOUR plans?

Ron: I don’t know yet...it depends on how things turn out

Linda: Oh...

Ron: Ya...well...looks like our desserts are coming

Linda: Their Crème brûlée is amazing

Ron smiled: It better be...or else I’ll hold you responsible

Linda smiled: Ron...thank you

Ron: For what?

Linda: For making me smile

Ron looked at her; her beautiful features all seemed to be highlighted under the lights of the restaurant. She was beautiful...and her smile was radiant, and he hoped that she would be able to continue to be so radiant, so lovely and charming. He could see her hesitation in letting him in, letting him understand her, but all of this reservation she has also slowly seemed to diminish as they carried on.

Ron: My pleasure...and to be honest, I think you’re amazing...but don’t tell Leila

Linda laughed: How come?

Ron: She’ll think that I’m falling for you, and she might pull me out of the assignment

Linda: Really?

Ron: Ya...she’s like that...overbearing, motherly and well...a bit too controlling...don’t tell her that either

Linda laughed: All these years knowing Leila, I’ve never gotten the chance to see that side of her...maybe she’s just like that towards you...you must’ve been quite naughty

Ron laughed: Naughty...what are you getting at?

Linda: You know, like a modern-day Casanova, maybe...

Ron: Oh, now you’re just flattering me...

Linda: I’m not sure if it’s really flattery, since I bet you the female staff will all agree with me that you do have quite the charisma and charm...

Ron: Maybe...I should warn Leila that you’re the one falling in love

At his words she began to blush. It was a natural reaction to his words, but it was also that, that caught his attention

Ron: Does it mean it’s true?

Linda cleared her throat, recomposed herself and looked at him: If it was, the reporters and employees would have a field day

Ron chuckled: Ok...but did you really have to respond in such a cool tone?

Linda: Are you not used to this other side of me?

Ron: I prefer the blushing Linda Chung better...

Linda smiled: Me too...but with everything going on, I think being more cool would help me out

Ron: I know...how about this...you can be whoever you want to be around me...I really think if you keep this cool act going on for a while...you might get...constipation

Linda broke out in laughter as the other customers watched the two of them

Linda: Really, constipation?

Ron: Hey...I’m just looking out for your health

Linda placed her hand on his

Linda: Thanks

Ron: Not a problem...anyways, it’s getting late...I’ll get the bill and drive you home

Linda: No need...I can drive myself home.

Ron: Alright

After Ron got the bill, the both of them left the restaurant and stood in the main lobby waiting for their cars. The first to arrive was Linda’s. She quickly got on and was about to drive off, when she suddenly rolled down the window

Linda: Hey, Ron...

Ron: Ya?

Linda: I had a wonderful time tonight

Ron: So did I...good night

Linda: Good night.

~ Ng Residence~

By the time Ron had gotten home, it was nearing 11 o’clock, but both of his parents were still up.

Michelle: Oh, look who finally comes waltzing in at this time

Ron: Hi mom, dad...

Wong Ching: Who’d you have dinner with, son?

Ron: Linda

Michelle: Linda?

Ron: Ms. Chung...

Wong Ching: You’re on a first name basis now...does Nancy know?

Ron: What?

Michelle: You come home pretty late, you just had dinner with another woman...it only makes sense that you tell your girlfriend...unless you’re hiding something

Ron smiled: I guess I should call her...

Wong Ching: First name basis...interesting

Ron: Is there something you’d like to tell me dad?

Wong Ching: I’m just saying...simply stating a fact really...

Ron: Uh huh...

Wong Ching: Nancy is a nice girl, son...you gotta learn to cherish her...

Ron walked over and took a seat next to his mom...

Ron: Mom, what’s dad trying to say...

Michelle: He thinks there’s something going on between you and Linda...

Ron: I figured that much out as well...but we all know this is a show...

Wong Ching: Ah hah! So it’s true then...my conjecture is absolutely correct.

Ron: No...

Michelle: So this is just a show for you, is it?

Ron: Mom...I didn’t mean it like that...

Michelle: Don’t you call me mom...since this is just a show, we’re merely acting as a family...

Ron looked at her and soon after he embraced her with both arms

Ron: You know I love you...and I’m glad we’re a family

Michelle smiled: That’s more like it...now...Ron, be a good boy and tell your father that Cheuk-hei and Ka-Yan are a lovely pair...(she grabs her laptop and shows him the pictures)

Ron: They do look nice together

Michelle: See...even our son says so...

Wong Ching: Ok...fine...your mother and son team wins...for now...

Michelle chuckled and whispered to Ron: But I always win...

=============
I hope you did enjoy it...and I hope you sorta got the reference I was subtly making. And if you didn't...well...I just wanted to point out how constipated Linda looks in most of YSSS...I seriously thought that she was constipated...or...on the verge of breaking out into laughter. It was a rather unatural cool look, in my eyes...but I guess everywhere I read, I seem to see great reviews...so ya...

Hope you liked the short chapter (short in quantity not length), and please comment, comment and comment...

OH...if you're interested in know...after A Truthful Lie ends...and I finish off Take 2...I'll be posting up a poll...to see which fanfic I should write next...at the moment I have two forewords written...and ya...we'll see how things go

Remember to comment!!!

A Truthful Lie: Ch 25

Ch 25: FEELINGS

Howdy folks, it’s been a while hasn’t it? How have you been doing? Are your exams done? Cause...I’m DONE!!! Ahahaha...exams are over...Randomness is BACK!!!

I wrote my last exam at the end of April...and well...my hand was pretty sore lol I’m officially done my third year and it feels pretty awesome...I think as a person I’ve grown a bit more...actually I think I finally had the epiphany that was supposed to hit in first year...the one where you realize that you’re an adult and your future is in your hands...so either you’re gonna make it or break it...and I hope I really MAKE IT! Anyways, I don’t think you want me to ramble on about my epiphany or anything but rather read this story...so...here it is.

Enjoy!

By the time they got to Myolie’s place, Ron had already filled her in on everything that went on between Tavia and himself.

Myolie: I guess you won’t be coming up then?

Ron: I guess not...unless you want me to

Myolie: No, it’s ok...I’ll have plenty of other times to tell you about stuff...you should go home and rest up...

Ron smiled: OK, I’ll take your word for it...

He stepped out of his car, and went over to open the door for Myolie. It was in his nature to be a gentleman

Myolie: Thanks...

Ron: When did we become so formal?

He gave her a light peck on the cheek as a goodnight kiss, waved, and got back on his car and drove off...It was a strange feeling, but after telling Myolie about his day, he felt even happier. God knows why this is the case, but all he knew was that knowing that he will always have someone to listen to his stories seem to make him happy.

When Monday came around Ron was equally nervous as he was excited about heading back to work. Tavia would be there. Would she smile at him? Would she speak to him in the same tone she spoke to him on their last date? All of these questions seem to flutter throughout Ron’s mind as he struggled to put on his tie, which usually wouldn’t cause him so much trouble. He felt like a little boy again, heading to a large candy shop, excited about all the flavours that were there, but at the same time a little bit nervous and anxious.

When we arrived at work, the first person he saw was...Leila. She was all smiles as well, which somehow made Ron realize how wonderful she was.

Ron: Good morning

Leila: Morning to you too Mr. Ng

Ron: Aren’t you going to ask me about how my date went?

Leila: Do you really think I care that much to ask?

Ron smiled: A quick tongue. I’ve taught you well...

Leila: Again with the oh so large ego, but...if it makes you happy, then I’ll ask. How was your date?

Ron: Wonderful.

Leila: That’s it...just one word?

Ron: What else do you want me to say? It was a good start, even though we’re still just friends at the moment

For some reason those words made it seem as though a load was lifted off her chest. She was happy that he was happy, but she was happier that Ron and Tavia are merely starting over from scratch rather than starting to date again

Ron: I think I’ll ask her to dinner again...but I’ll give her some time to take in everything first. I think being friends at the moment is a good step, don’t you agree

Leila: Seems a bit unlike the Ron Ng I originally met...but...I think the change is good

Ron: What’s that supposed to mean?

Leila: I don’t mean to offend, but when we first met, you were very much full of yourself, which you still are, don’t get me wrong. But you were also over ambitious and even a bit inconsiderate...but now...you’re not so much of a jerk

Ron: Being honest isn’t part of our job description. You’re lucky I’m in a good mood; otherwise, bashing your superior like that might cost you a lot more

But then he smiled. His smile was so contagious that it made Leila smile as well. She knew he was joking and at that moment she also realized, she had special feelings for him. This wasn’t good.

Ron: But does that also mean that you’re beginning to like me?

Leila: I...

Ron smiled: No need to answer, as an experienced lawyer I can tell by such hesitation that your answer is either brutal to me, or...the answer is yes, you are beginning to like me, which is probably more embarrassing than you can probably answer. So, just save it. I’m pretty sure; your ‘truthful’ answer would’ve created the latter

Leila: Well...in that case, since Mr. Ng here is such an experienced lawyer he would also have realized that he has a meeting to attend to in a few hours

Ron: I do? With whom?

Leila: Your favourite business partner thus far...

Ron: Really now, why didn’t you tell me about it earlier? I would’ve dressed for the occasion

Leila raised her eyebrow: And to think I thought you were a slightly changed man, considering how you’re trying to win Ms. Yeung back

Ron: Ah, but does a peacock lose its feathers when it’s trying to attract its mate?

Leila smiled: Comparing yourself to an animal, and one that is NOT warm-blooded. You never seem to disappoint

Ron: ah, so my mentee here does have a wide range of knowledge, one point to you, but minus one for the quick tongue towards your superior

Leila: So, are you trying to say that I must always be at the mercy of my superior and never stand up for what I believe to be true?

Ron: With experience you’ll learn when to be quick and when to simply not speak...but, with me, I don’t mind this quick exchange, though...you should be more careful in the future, just a friendly word of advice

Leila: So now you’re looking out for me? It seems to me like your impression of me has changed as well

Ron: Like I said before, you’ve helped me see that there’s more to life then quick flings and infatuations...I guess in a way that makes you a very special lady to Ron Ng.

Leila slightly blushed at his words, and Ron immediately noticed her cheeks starting to turn pink. He looked at her carefully, smiled, and made a small gesture. He felt her pink cheeks, and his smile broadened

Ron: I think my assumption that you’re beginning to like me, is actually fact. Now I’m just curious if for some very strange reason, you’ve fallen for me

Leila: In your dreams

Ron: Well, if it makes you feel any better...I enjoyed playing the role of your husband, even if it was just for a very short day.

Leila: You were, a good father that day...and since I was never married, I wouldn’t know whether or not you were a good husband...but like I said, I think one day you will be

Ron: Thanks

Then, once again he embraced her. For some reason he felt it was the right thing to do, a simple embrace. He wanted just to have her in his arms for a moment. Maybe it was to remind himself of that day they spent together as a ‘family’ or maybe because he needed one. Regardless, Leila only became pinker at his touch, while her heart beat sped up.

Ron could feel her heart beating against his body, he could feel that rush of blood to her face that was causing her to blush and he loved it. He loved that feeling he was able to give her, that sense of anxiousness tied in with a bit of embarrassment. It was cute.

When he was with Tavia, he felt as though nothing he could do would surprise her, would make her feel like a young girl again being with her lover. It almost felt as though they were old friends reliving their memories together...and through the embrace he had with Leila he started to question whether or not trying to revive what he had with Tavia long ago, was indeed a good idea.

Finally, he released Leila from the embrace

Ron: Alright, let’s get ready for the meeting. Maybe you can get a bouquet of flowers for Ms. Chung?

Leila: I wouldn’t do that if I were you

Ron: Because?

Leila: Her fiancé, who is also heir to their company is accompanying her for this meeting, since he’s in town and has heard of you

Ron laughed: Am I really some sort of ‘lady butcher?’ Just because I’m good looking and the tabloids seem to always catch me with someone, it really doesn’t mean anything...unless I admitted to them

Leila: Right...so you’re trying to say that he didn’t have to come

Ron: Ya...Ms. Chung and I get along really well...

Leila: are you referring to your relationship in the conference room or in bed?

Ron shot her a look: Really? Isn’t the answer obvious?

Leila simply stared at him

Ron looked at her with a menacing smile and mouthed the word ‘both’

===================
I know it took me a while to write this chapter, but I'd like to let you in on a secret...I actually started writing the ending to this fanfic. *gasps* Ya, I know it sounds crazy since I've been dragging this on for a while, but, it's coming to an end. Whether or not you're going to like the ending, is a completely other story.

What I have now for the ending is I guess, really open...I know not a lot of people fancy that type of ending...but...it might work for this fanfic

Anyways, enough of my rambling. Please leave me a comment/comments, I'll try to update more frequently since I'm off and...be on a lookout for an update to The Stalker (maybe, cause I wanna poke fun at more 'issues' lol)

that's it!
